It is most centrally located for convenient day trips to Lucca (20 minutes), Pisa and the sea-side beaches of Viareggio (40 minutes), Montecatini, the famous spa town,(10 minutes). About 25 minutes by car to Florence, or you can drive your car to a nearby train station in Pistoia and from there, it is a pleasant 20 minutes by train to the Florence station in the center of town, thereby avoiding traffic and parking problems. About an 1 hour - 10 minutes to Siena and 1 hour - 20 minute scenic drive to the Cinque Terre. There are several small lovely restaurants in Pistoia and in the countryside for a relaxing dinner after a day's travels.
