About Il Mulino di Torrigiani

For over 300 years, Il Mulino di Torrigiani was the olive mill (frantoio) and grain mill (mulino) for the Villa Torrigiani, the villa of a well-known noble family in nearby Camigliano. Set in a private valley in the hills of Lucca, Il Mulino is surrounded by woods with a trail to a waterfall. The mill is built on its own bridge. Be lulled to sleep by the serene sound of a bubbling brook as it flows beneath the house from the hills above. The ground floor houses the mill’s olive grindstones and fireplace, displaying the ancient process of the “frantoio” olive pressing.

The Mulino main house features a living room with a comfortable sofa and upholstered chairs, plasma TV with satellite channels, DVD player and movies, fireplace, dining room and charming, well-equipped kitchen where you could join Doug and Doris for a Culinary Event Week!

The Mulino features two large bedrooms furnished with antiques and comfortable beds and also has a day-bed in the living room for an extra guest. Two spacious and beautifully appointed bathrooms are adjacent to the bedrooms, each offering a tiled shower, sink, toilet and bidet.

Outdoors, you can relax near the bubbling brook. Lounge chairs and tables are perfect for getting together to talk about the day’s events or for doing nothing at all. From the bridge patio, watch the sun set over the hillside as you sample your newly purchased wines from nearby vineyards. You may even decide to dine “al fresco!”
